Trish’s Cue
Trish had a challenge for me: she wanted “blue pearly points”… It took a while and 3 tries to figure out that I could use epoxy and mica powder to achieve the look she wanted. Then she said she wanted sterling silver and copper veneers hence challenge two. Another round of epoxy and glue and an adjustment to the lathe tooling (thanks Dave F.) and I was able to get it to come out right. The next challenge was a BLACK shaft but NOT carbon fiber - Wood dye on a standard maple shaft (#1+ grade thanks to Jeff Prather at Prather Cue) with a thin cyanoacrylate finish to make sure the dye stays where it belongs.
This cue boasts an ebony forearm, epoxy points and accompanying ring work, sterling silver and copper veneers as well as the ring accents, and finally sterling silver dots and stripes to dress it up a little. All in all, it’s a heavy cue at 21 oz. with no weight bolts. It hits rather hard with the stainless steel collar and joint but that’s what she wanted, a hard-hitting, heavy cue. The balance is great and it plays very well.
